QG, tis is the most words id ever 'heard' from u !
In fact, since aquarium is a new hobby to me (1 day old), i have a lot more reading up to do.
However, given the small size of the tank and limited 2x8w tubes; the range of available freshwater fishes and aquatic plants is already very much narrowed down. I tink corals are completely out-of-question. So I tot hobbyists like yourself, can propose somethg within the limitation, as if its your tank wo
Tat's a good forum. Thks;)
And your fishes got fragrance or not? Im guessing maybe they grow up feeding on GIANT pandan leaves! Later (mornin la) go to work take a sniff le, i suspect they smell good! |

YES, nvr sniff! LOL
Do u tink neoon-tetras are a good idea? Im putting tank up in a dark room. Then the tank comes with tubes. So that means internally-illuminated with dark background effect, plus neon fishes and transparent shrimps swimming ard |

Rummi, since u are such great green fingers, I'll suggest u try planted tank. Maybe start with those simple plants before trying those more challanging ones. You'll be pleasantly surprise how beautiful a planted tank can be.
For a start, make a trip to the Fish shop near Jalan Kayu known as Sealife. You can get most of your supply there and of course AQ (aquaticquotient) is a great forum to pick up new the new hobby. When u advanced, you can try http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com also for even more new techniques overseas ppl are using.
Cheers

Vivarium for a starter might be abit overwheming. Thus my recommendation is to do a low-requirement planted tank 1st. http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60317
With this, you do not need to worry too much about lighting, CO2 and nutrients. Once you find that low-requirement planted tank lack challange or you found some plants that you will like to keep, you can den process to find out how to setup a high-maintenance tank. For more info, can refer to this thread. http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16813
As for fishes, you can start with any of the schooling nanofish. Most should do well in your tank. Just remember not to overstocked.
Cheers

The links are very useful. Will need time to study them... ...
These nanofishes are wonderful - colorful and small. One question - aren't they marine tank fishes? Im only setting up a freshwater tank. |

Cool! Welcome to the family. Join us in sgreefclub.com then.
Ur tank will be consider as a pico/nano tank which is pretty challenging and u'll need to do quite a fair bit of water changing. See some of the local pico/nano tank, http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showforum=69
Cheers
