Japanese buffet every Monday

TREAT: An assortment of sushi, tempura and barbecued dishes are available at Infusion Cafe at the KSL Resort with wasabi thatís prepared in-house

JOHOR BAHRU: FOR those who like sushi, tempura and barbecued dishes, make a date with the Infusion Cafe at the KSL Resort in Taman Century, Johor Baru, which is serving a Japanese-themed buffet dinner every Monday.

Diners will be spoilt for choice at the food and beverage outlet, as executive chief Sivasegaran Bala Gangdaram and his kitchen team roll out more than 100 types of hot and cold dishes to pamper you.

Start off with the Caesar salad which is served in the hollow area of a huge piece of pecorino cheese.

This allows cheese lovers to scrape the extra cheese from the hollow and make this starter extraordinarily cheesy.

Crunchy chicken flakes may then be added for extra taste.

You may begin the main course with the salmon batayaki, which is mildly marinated with batayaki sauce and baked with olive oil.

Batayaki sauce is a mixture of butter, teriyaki sauce, sugar and sesame.

The salmon is served with capsicum which is fried with olive oil and sprinkled with crushed pepper and sesame, making it a simple but healthy dish.

Another item on the buffet spread worth trying is the roulade chicken, which is a mixture of marinated seafood stuffed inside a flattened chicken breast which is then rolled into a cylindrical shape and roasted in the oven.

It is sliced and best served with lemon.

This is a must-try item at the cafe.

For those who like deep-fried items, there is a fried fritter corner serving deep-fried dumplings, chicken and prawns, as well as a tempura corner.

All fried items at the tempura corner are prepared on the spot to ensure freshness.

No Japanese dinner is complete without sushi.

At Infusion, there are at least four types of colourful and delicious sushi.

The wasabi sauce for the sushi is not from the supermarket shelf, but specially prepared by the kitchen team using a secret recipe of fresh horseradish.

It is not as pungent or as hot as the regular wasabi.

The variety at the seafood bar, the barbecue corner and the salad bar is equally appealing.

For dessert, tuck into the Japanese green tea cake.

Infusion Cafe serves a Japanese-themed buffet dinner every Monday from 6.30pm to 10pm which is priced at RM60++ per head.
