This is a real event.

A malay man about the age of 50 years old came to my unit at 272 to ask for money. My sister answered the door.

He claimed that he is my neighbour staying directly below my unit. But, too bad, my family knows my neighbour living below, they are a chinese family.

He claimed that his daughter met with an ACCIDENT in school Surprised and his wife can only be home at 3pm. He has NO MONEY now!! Surprised He wants my sister to give him money!

But my sister told him off saying we know the family living below and he is NOT OUR NEIGHBOUR! Unable to cheat us, he angrily walked away...

BEWARE EVERYONE! Malay Cheat description:

1) About 170cm tall
2) Man about 50 yrs old
3) Decently dressed in short sleeve shirt
4) Tanned skin
5) Malay race
6) Can speak fluent english

yup, it happened in my block too during Sep 08. I don't believe his story but my neighbor who stayed one flr below me was cheated of her $. When she came & verify with me, she then realised her mistake. Guess this has been going on for a few months, should report to Police!

Hi all,

I have actually sent Sengkang NPC an email to highlight this thread to them.

I'm glad that they did respond, and have already read what is written so far. Here's an extract of their reply...
Quote:
The advise for residents who encounter such cases are to call for Police at either 999 or Sengkang NPC @ 1800-3438999 (Toll-Free).
Our officers will attend to such cases and assist the residents.

Hopefully they can do more to warn to residents, rather than to wait for people to call them when they encountered such cases. Lips Sealed

Thanks to ilovemypets (and others) who have taken the effort to warn our fellow residents out of their own initiative. Bow

Cheers,
Spiderman

I personally encountered this man before. Except that he is a chinese middle aged man.

He used exactly the same story told here...

Do pls beware and I did alert my neighbours downstairs and everyone I knew around the estate here.

They might be a gang acting out here to cheat us...;
