If u ever had a chance to talk with my paternal uncle, u would be able to hear what is authentic Teochew language. Too bad he died five years ago..... I actually have a Teochew friend telling me she did not understand my Teochew when I was chatting with her paternal grandma who was a Teo-ang Teochew. This ah-mah also died a few yrs ago.... sighzz.... can u find me a good Teochew-speaking person to chat with other than elder folks? sighzz....

I am one here. Smile
You can blamed the National Policy at one time, the Speak Mandarin Campaign had deprived and destroyed the authenticity of the different dialects of the bygone era. Why? While learning to speak Mandarin, we don't have to drop dialects.
I, for one, never dropped my dialect. As I have to speak with my mother and her generation of relatives and friends.

Never follow blindly, only follow what is necessary and practical. Smile

so many ka ki nang here ah..

I still remember one who can tune in "le di hong siah" or also known as Redifusion. You will need a "box" so called and the spoken dialets are really "solid". But problem is now still got or not??
